First off let me say this is a great stick vac - and I have tried many. I previously owned the Dirt Devil M083424 Accucharge Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner which I purchased locally but as you can see you can purchase on Amazon for less. The only reason I bought this one Dirt Devil BD20035RED Accucharge 15.6 Volt Stick Vac with Energy Star Rating is because it was listed as a newer model available when I went to purchase another BLUE one. After purchasing the more expensive "RED", I finally got an answer from Dirt Devil.com regarding the difference between the two models. Their e-mail stated "THEY ARE THE SAME UNIT" - the red being the latest model. I specifically asked if their were any differences and they listed none. I am not happy that I just paid more for the same vacuum, just a different color, which by the way the BLUE is much nicer looking. The BLUE is a soft blue, almost metallic looking and has the appearance of a more expensive machine. The RED one is that Dirt Devil red which has that cheap plastic look - something you'd find on a kid's toy.

Now for the performance review:

I use this every single day - since I have 2 cats and a dog who shed, not to mention the scattered kitty litter. Then there are several area rugs and the bathroom - everyday. And also for a quick run on my living/dining room rug. This vacuum not only performs well, but it keeps a charge long enough to do all of this. I have never actually timed it,but I would say there is at least 20 minutes on it. I had my first vac for over a year and it performed flawlessy until I dropped it one too many times. The last time was a hard fall and the vacuum, though working, started to let off a high pitched noise. That's why I decided to replace it.

This vacuum also can stand on it's own which I know is a concern for some. When you're interrupted in the middle of vacuuming, no one wants to have to go back to the charger stand to have the vacuum stand without falling. So if this is a consideration for you, this one does stand on it's own:)

Cleaning it is easy - just empty with each use and shake both filters out. I actually like to take a small brush and brush the filters since cat litter can create a build-up of fine dust that can clog a lot of vacuums. The outer filter (plastic) can be rinsed also.

The dirt collection cup is not large, but one needs to remember this vacuum is not meant to clean your whole house. The idea of a stick vac is to have a lightweight vacuum for quick, little jobs around the home. This the Dirt Devil does fine.

Another key thing I like is that you can keep this plugged in all the time and it will not over-charge. I have never had to leave my vacuum off the charger to let it die out completely in order for it to take a charge. Over a year with the older model and never had any charging problems at all.

For the money, I think this is a great vacuum and if used for it's intended purposes, I think you will be satisfied. But don't forget, unless you are sold on paying more for the cheap RED plastic look, go for the nicer looking, less expensive BLUE model - Dirt Devil M083424 Accucharge Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner.

I was looking for a stick vac that could do the job of a quick clean up on a daily basis. I have a big dog that sheds constantly. After working all day, having to come home and drag out the big vacuum every day was just a chore. I was looking for something that I could just grab up and give a quick run that could handle the job, and that would be easy to use. I am a review reader when it comes to purchasing products, and this one seemed to have mostly good reviews. Of course the negative ones gave me pause, so I was really waffling between the more expensive models with the slightly better reviews, and this one. I am pleased to say that this unit does everything I hoped for and it is really a pleasure to use. I just grab it up and go and it picks up major dog hair like a champ, plus all the other bigger sized particles you would want a vacuum to handle (crumbs, dog food, foot dirt). Pop it out, a quick 10 minute run, pop it back in, jobs done, house is livable! It's fall here, so there is a constant trail of crunchy leaves the dog is dragging in, and it handles the job no problem. I have wood floors, laminate and stone tile, plus some throw rugs and it does an excellent job on all of them. I really like the rotating brush that you can turn on or off for an extra kick on the carpets. The unit came nicely packaged in 3 pieces that easily snapped together. It sits into a floor base that charges it, which is extremely accessible and easy to use. The dirt cup is reasonably sized and super easy to snap out and empty. My home is not overly large, and I can do my living room, dining room, kitchen and entry way without detecting any lag in the battery power whatsoever. Really I have not had reason to test how long it will last before the battery will lag, as it does such a quick and efficient job. It fits around my chairs, furniture etc. nicely and handles well. It also has a good substance to it, without being heavy, and seems well made. I am very happy with this Vac and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quick and easy solution that will keep challenging floors presentable.

I purchased this for the home office I work for. They have two Himalayan cats. The vacuum seems to pick up a fair amount of fine dust, but it's not easy to vacuum cat hair - and that's daily not just weekly. I need something that is lightweight for daily cleaning because of my back, rib and shoulder injuries. It takes me a fair amount of time to do my task since I have to go over, and over, and over the areas.

Our last vacuum was an Eureka QuickUp. The one previous to that was an Eureka as well. This Dirt Devil vacuum really isn't much better than those slightly cheaper models. Paying more money doesn't always get you a better product. Granted, this is not advertised for pet cleanup, but having to go over a scant pile of hair 10 times then finally (painfully) bending over to pick up the remainder is not my idea of even a half way decent vacuum. I'm still looking for a light weight model so that this one can be put up for a back up!

Finally, a product that works! I've been a slave to my new dark wood floors since I also have a very hairy Golden Retriever who sheds continually. My big vacuum is too clumsy. Swiffer dusters just fill up with hair and dust too quickly. This little red Devil is great for quick clean ups and I love that you can turn the roller brush on or off for wood floors or carpet. It has great suction power, is lightweight, and easy to use. I've gone through a variety of products trying to find something easy and simple and this is it.

I live in a tiny house, hardwood floor and tiles. I figured, perfect, I'll get a vacuum like this one. I read great reviews about it... I got it, and am HIGHLY disappointed!! Did I say HIGHLY? I dropped some loose tea on the hardwood floor, and it barely picked it up. I turned off the vacuum, thinking had picked up the "heavy load" of dry loose tea, and the tea fell out of the bottom of the vacuum. It was not full either.

I didn't put it through it's paces in time to return it. I want to sell it but I can't consciously sell it to anyone! If I could rate it at zero stars I would because I paid for something that completely does NOT work.
