I've been searching for the perfect light weight vacuum for hard wood floors and low profile area rugs and this is the best I've gotten so far. I have a big hairy newfoundland dog who goes in and out all day, so it's no easy task keeping up with the hair and dirt he leaves around. I've tried a few different models of the Shark Brand and the Hoover Flair and this is by far my favorite yet. I've only had it about a week, so we'll see how it keeps up. So far, this is what I've noticed-- it's not perfect, so I'll start with the bad:
Cons
- It's a little top heavy and unstable, especially when using the hose on the back
- It doesn't get underneath furniture as well as some of the others I've tried
- The pivoting head feels clunky to me when using it, but again, maybe I'll get used to it
- The cord is a bit short

But here is what I really like about it and why it's the best lightweight vacuum I've had:
Pros
- It's very powerful. I tried to go with cordless models and they just couldn't handle the dog hair
- This vacuum doesn't have a rotating brush underneath it, so it's much easier to clean-- I hated having to cut the hair out of the brushes on all the others I've tried
- Emptying the canister is very easy-- and no filter to clean either

So far I'm very happy with it and I think it's worth the price!

Customer Reviews

Great little vaccum for bare floors - DHM Fan - Wisconsin
This vacuum exceeded my expectations - the suction was great and picked up pet hair, crumbs and dirt wonderfully. I have three kids, a cat & a dog to clean up after and this was perfect for those quick clean ups. The v-shaped front takes some getting used to, but I think does end up helping you pick up more dirt. I'm so glad I bought a corded vacuum like this though, rather than a cordless - no worries about the battery being charged or low. I would purchase again.

Great little hard floor vacuum - Killerbee -
This is a great vacuum for people with hard floors and little carpet. We have 2 dogs and a baby and the floor is always covered in goldfish crumbs or hair. I found this vacuum to be quite effective in cleaning the hair, dirt and crumbs. I do have one complaint, however. The power cord is VERY short. I have to use an extension cord just to get from one side of the living room to the other. I have tried MANY other vacuums for hard floors and this is the best one I have found so far for the price range.

In love with this product - Cat -
My 2300 square foot home is mostly hardwood laminate and tile. I thought it would be easier to keep clean than carpet with our three pets, three active children, and Oklahoma red dirt. However, it's been such a challenge to keep the floors clean. Sweeping and dust mops just stir up the dust. Other stick vacs I've tried in the past lose their suction as quickly as they lose their charge. I've been in search for a better solution for a long time.

The other positive reviews encouraged me to give the Bissell Versus Bare-Floor Vacuum a try. It arrived and was so easy to put together. Three parts, one screw, and I was ready to go. I couldn't wait to try it and immediately vacuumed my entire house. The v-shaped head took a little getting used to, but seems to pick up pretty well along the baseboards. Good suction that even transitioned fine to my area rugs. It really exceeded my expectations. For the price, this is well worth it! My broom will be moved to the garage!!!

The only thing negative is the length of the power cord. I had to keep moving the plug to other outlets. Another review suggested adding a short extension cord, which should take care of that little problem. Other than that, I am just in love with this product!
