Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum for $119.99

Cheap Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum Discount Review Shop

I had a little concern buying the LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum because of some of the negative reviews. However, I went ahead and ordered the vacuum and a spare battery. After using it for over a month, it has met all expectations. If you are looking for a heavy duty vacuum for a big cleaning job, buy a Dyson. I've got one and it is what I use for the once-a-week cleaning. We've got three small dogs and in between the weekly cleaning, you find dirt, grass and dog hair on the floor. This vacuum is great for a quick clean. I can about 2000 sq.ft. cleaned on a single battery. I used to have an Electrolux bagless stick vacuum and was not nearly as happy with it as I am with the Hoover.

Pros:
- Lithium battery gives at least 20 minutes of cleaning on bare floors (laminate and tile)
- Easy to change battery if necessary (most stick vacuums do not offer this)
- Light and easy to maneuver
- Good suction
- Easy to empty dirt

Cons:
- none so far

Most positive reviews probably from new owners - Crafty Lawyer - Philadelphia, PA
I really want to love this product. I really COULD love this product. And I WOULD love this product. If it were well made. But it is not. Under normal usage conditions, the first thing that failed was the joint where the main body meets the handle. The thin, brittle plastic cracked. The vacuum had not been dropped or misused at all. So I took it to the only certified repair shop in my area, where they exceptionally unhelpful and told me they were sure this would not be covered under the warranty. Why in the world not? Long story short, I managed to talk Hoover into replacing the top portion of the handle, which solved the problem without requiring a total vacuum replacement, and now I treat the thing like it's made of glass. But I get the feeling that I'm not going to get a second chance.

So of course now the thin brittle plastic on the red insert that twists into the top of the dirt cup and is functionally necessary has now also cracked and just barely hanging on. Soon it will break off completely. Fabulous. Will I try to get Hoover to replace that part too? Sure. Will they do it this time? Who knows.

The point is that a stick vac costing this much should be well made and, sadly, this one is not. Which shocked me because I have two other Hoover products (a Floormate and a carpet steamer) which, while unsexy in the design department, are quite well made, of the kind of softer, thicker plastic that doesn't shatter at the slightest touch.

Well, turns out Hoover used to be part of Whirlpool, but was sold in 2006 to China-based Techtronic. Well, there you have it. LINX stick is not made to last, and Hoover products will probably never be built the same way again. And that's a shame, because it is very powerful for its size, and the battery is awesome. People complaining about the battery have probably not been charging or discharging it properly. So, two stars because I have a feeling I am going to end up replacing this soon when something fails that cannot be replaced. Given how cheaply made it is, that seems inevitable.

Powerful Vacuum - CW IN OHIO -
So pleasantly surprised at the very strong suction this great little vacuum has. It works as well on our short pile carpet as on our tile floors. Very lightweight and easy to handle. Sleek, stainless steel look makes it perfectly fine to keep stored in a corner of the kitchen. Easy empty dust cup a real plus, too. Happy with this purchase!

I have newly installed laminate flooring throughout my house...I don't know what I would do without this product...it's effective, convenient to manuever, and picks up ALOT of dog hair with my 3 dogs...now I know where the dog hair was going when I had carpet...great tool for hardwood floors!Hoover LINX Cordless Stick Vacuum
